Pupil Council
AIMS

The Pupil Council provides all pupils with an opportunity to raise points which concern their welfare in
school. All issues are discussed in an open, honest way during Pupil Council meetings. This helps
the children realise that their ideas and opinions are valued.

The Pupil Council meets each week on a Wednesday at 1pm in room 14 with Mrs Swan and Mrs Campbell. Each
meeting has its own agenda. A register of members attending is taken and points from the previous week's meeting are
discussed.

New business produces lively discussion with everyone vying to promote new ideas to be taken forward as action
points.

Each pupil councillor is then responsible for taking notes and passing on important information to their own class plus
one of the infant classes.
The Pupil Councillors represent the rest of the school in discussions with Mrs Diamond, senior management, teaching
and non-teaching staff, Parent Council and other agencies.
At the beginning of each new session new pupil councillors are chosen to represent the pupils of Crieff Primary School.
Interested pupils from P4 to P7 are asked to prepare and deliver a short speech explaining why they think they would be a
good representative for the class. A secret ballot is held and a councillor and deputy chosen by the first past the post
method.
